Yammer groups and community creation- find it at right place!

Microsoft announced on Feb 06-2020, about the yammer groups changing to communities. Community name suite more better because yammer is a community-building platform and extends employee networks in the org along with guest invite capability.

To create a new community (need to create group If using old yammer app) in new yammer home page, many users struggle to find the option of “creating new community“, if you are part of many communities, which will show under “My communities” in the left pane of the home page. So let’s get the option of creating a new group/community using the old and new yammer home page/app.

Old Yammer view (new groups)

In the old portal, it would show as a group in the left pane of the portal. if your organization is pretty big and several groups/community is created then you need to expand the left pane to see the group options (see Image-1).

New yammer portal (new community)

To jump into new yammer page, you need to toggle the option from top right corner. See the image-2

Now, in new yammer portal left pane, you will see the several communities you are part of and under that you will find the option “view all“. Do expand the “view all” and then you will find the option of creating the new community and discovery, See image-3.
